Pharmaceuticals, also known as drugs, are products used to prevent, treat diseases or regulate physiological functions of the human body. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), pharmaceuticals are defined as products consisting of two main components: modern medicine and traditional medicine with specific uses and clear indications for ingredients. In addition, pharmaceuticals must ensure safety, effectiveness and quality with clear regulations on time of use and dosage. In Vietnam, according to the Law on Pharmacy (June 14, 2005), pharmaceuticals are understood as substances or mixtures of substances used for humans to prevent, treat diseases, diagnose or regulate physiological functions of the body, including finished drugs, pharmaceutical ingredients and medical biological products.
